Among the Dead
2021
About
Among the Dead by Hansol Jung is a play on war, violence, and kinship. Stuck between three different time frames within the Korean peninsula and United States, three characters—a child, a soldier, and a nameless woman—jump time and space to reach each other. Oh, and Jesus.
Throughout directing this performance, I have also finished my undergraduate thesis, “Actors in Trauma Narrative: An Investigation Into Among the Dead's Rehearsal Structure.” The research was informed through literary analysis, historical research of “Comfort Women” and the Korean War, and collaboration with actors and psychological advisors.
